Irene Pappas Ena  Michail " Mikis " Theodorakis (Greek: Μιχαήλ (Μίκης) Θεοδωράκης [ˈmicis θeoðoˈɾacis]; born 29 July 1925) is a Greek composer and lyricist who has contributed to contemporary Greek music with over 1000 works. He scored for the films Zorba the Greek (1964), Z (1969), and Serpico (1973). Mikis Theodorakis was born in the Greek island of Chios, in 1925. The exact same year that the other great composer of Greece was born in Xanthi, Manos Hatzidakis. He fought during the 2nd World War, and he was captured at the city of Tripoli. Mikis Theodorakis, the Greek composer who is renowned around the world, is credited for writing the most beautiful music on the Holocaust.
